Terms of service

The rules for using the app and the website. The main sections open with a short summary in plain English; the full language follows.

01 Accepting these terms

In plain English

Using the app or the website means you agree to these terms. If you don’t agree, please don’t use them.

These terms of service (the “Terms”) are an agreement between you and Odo Labs LLC (“we” or “us”). They govern your use of the OdoTax mobile app, the odo.tax website, and the web dashboard (together, the “Service”).

By creating an account, turning on tracking, or otherwise using the Service, you confirm that you are at least 18 years old and that you accept these Terms and our Privacy Policy.

02 Your account

In plain English

Keep your sign-in safe and your details accurate. You’re responsible for what happens in your account.

You need an account to use most of the Service. You agree to give accurate information and to keep it current. You are responsible for keeping your sign-in details safe and for all activity under your account.

If you believe someone has used your account without your permission, tell us right away through the contact page.

03 What the Service does

The app detects drives automatically, records each drive’s route, distance, and time, and lets you sort every trip by purpose, such as business or personal. From those trips it estimates your deduction at the applicable IRS standard mileage rate and produces logs and reports you can export.

We work hard to keep detection accurate, but no automatic system is perfect. You are responsible for reviewing your trips and correcting any that were detected or classified wrongly before you rely on them.

04 Not tax advice

Read this one

The app is a tool, not your accountant. Its numbers are estimates — confirm them with a tax professional before you file.

The deduction figures in the Service are estimates, for your convenience and information only. They are not tax, legal, or accounting advice, and using the Service does not create a professional relationship. Tax rules change and depend on your situation. Always consult a qualified professional and check the figures before filing a return.

05 Billing & trials

The Service has a free plan and paid subscription plans. Unless stated otherwise, paid plans renew automatically at the end of each billing period at the then-current price. We always show you the price before you are charged.

  • If a plan comes with a free trial, the trial converts to a paid subscription when it ends, unless you cancel first.
  • Charges are billed through your app store or our payment provider and are subject to their terms.
  • Taxes may apply depending on where you live.

06 Canceling & refunds

In plain English

Cancel any time, in a couple of taps. You keep access until the end of the period you already paid for.

You can cancel your subscription at any time from your account settings or through your app store. Canceling stops the next renewal; it does not refund the current period. Your trips and logs stay available for export until you delete your account.

Refunds: if you were charged in error — a duplicate charge, or a renewal after you canceled — email us at hello@odo.tax and we’ll make it right. Purchases made through Google Play or the App Store follow that store’s refund process.

07 Acceptable use

When you use the Service, you agree not to:

  • Reverse-engineer, scrape, or resell the Service.
  • Submit fraudulent trips or falsify mileage data.
  • Interfere with the security of the Service or with other users.
  • Use the Service to break any law that applies to you.

We may suspend or close accounts that break these rules.

08 Liability

The Service is provided “as is.” To the fullest extent allowed by law, we are not liable for indirect or consequential damages, or for any tax outcome, penalty, or interest that results from figures you chose to rely on. Our total liability for any claim is limited to the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the claim.

Automatic drive detection depends on GPS signal, device sensors, and operating-system background policies we don’t control, so trips can occasionally be missed, split, or mis-measured. You are responsible for reviewing and correcting your drive log before relying on it in a tax filing. We also don’t promise uninterrupted operation and aren’t liable for failures caused by events beyond our reasonable control (outages, carrier or platform failures, GPS degradation, and the like). Export your reports regularly — you’re responsible for your own copies. To the extent permitted by law, any claim must be brought within one year of accruing.

09 Disputes & arbitration

In plain English

If something goes wrong, email us first — we get 60 days to fix it. After that, disputes go to individual arbitration, not court, and not as a class action. You can opt out of arbitration within 30 days of signing up.

Before starting any formal proceeding, you agree to describe the dispute to us at legal@odo.tax and give us 60 days to resolve it informally. If that fails, you and we agree that any dispute arising out of these Terms or the Service will be resolved by binding arbitration on an individual basis — administered by the American Arbitration Association under its Consumer Arbitration Rules, before a single arbitrator, by video or phone (or in your home county if a hearing is needed). The Federal Arbitration Act governs. Small-claims court and injunctive relief to protect intellectual property are excepted.

You and we each waive the right to a jury trial and to participate in any class, collective, or representative action. The arbitrator may award relief only to the individual who brought the claim. You can opt out of this arbitration agreement — keeping every other part of these Terms — by emailing legal@odo.tax within 30 days of first accepting the Terms, with the subject “Arbitration opt-out.” For anything not subject to arbitration, Tennessee law governs and the courts of Washington County, Tennessee have exclusive jurisdiction.

10 Text messages

On odo.tax/get you can ask us to text a link to the app to your phone. We send one text message each time you ask, and only when you ask: no reminders, no marketing. Message and data rates may apply. Reply STOP to stop any further texts from us, or HELP for help; you can also reach us at hello@odo.tax. Carriers are not liable for delayed or undelivered messages. How we handle your number is in our Privacy Policy.

11 Changes to these terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. If a change is significant, we’ll tell you in the app or by email before it takes effect. If you keep using the Service after a change, you accept the updated Terms.

12 Trademarks
