I got a new phone or reinstalled. Do I keep my drives?
Your drives are in your account
Yes. Every drive the phone has uploaded is kept in your OdoTax account, so you do not lose it with the phone or with the app. To move to a new phone, or after a reinstall, install OdoTax and sign in to the same account. The log is there: the drives as you sorted them, your vehicles, places and reports.
To look before you change anything, sign in at my.odo.tax in a browser: the same log is there. Pro comes with the account too — if the new phone does not show it, see What does going pro change?.
Before you delete the app
One thing can be on the phone and not yet in the account: a drive that has not uploaded. A drive recorded without a connection is saved on the phone and goes up by itself later, so check that nothing is waiting:
- Open OdoTax on the old phone with a connection
- In Settings, check that Auto-tracking is on and that tracking is not paused — waiting drives upload only while it is running
- Open Home. If it says N drives tracked offline or N drives waiting to upload, keep OdoTax open until that line is gone. If it says N drives couldn’t upload, tap Try again
When you are done with the old phone, tap Log out at the foot of Settings: a signed-out phone records nothing, and one left signed in keeps recording the drives it is on. If the old phone is already out of your hands, set a new password — every other phone and browser is signed out, and connected apps such as Claude are disconnected: How do I set or change my password?.

Set tracking up again
The drives come with the account; the permissions do not, because they belong to the phone. Sign in the way you did before — a code by email, a password, Google or Apple — and OdoTax asks for the permissions this phone has not given yet, one screen at a time. The same goes for a reinstall.
Then Settings → Tracking configuration shows every requirement with a green tick or a red issue. Each permission is walked through in How do I turn automatic tracking on?.
With two-factor on, signing in also asks for the six-digit code from your authenticator app. If the authenticator stayed on the old phone, tap Use a recovery code and type one of the codes you saved when you turned two-factor on.

If the drives are not there
Check which account the app is in. A sign-in code sent to an email address with no account opens a new, empty one, and so does a Google or Apple account under an address OdoTax has not seen; with Apple’s Hide My Email, Apple gives OdoTax a different address. The top of Settings shows the email address of the account you are in, and Joined with the month it was made.
- If that is not the address you used before, tap Log out at the foot of Settings and sign in with the old address, by the same method as before
- If OdoTax says This account is closed, tap Reopen my account — a closed account is kept for 30 days and comes back as it was
- If only the last drives made with the old phone are missing, they may still be waiting on it: open OdoTax on that phone with a connection. If the phone is gone, add them by hand — How do I add a drive by hand?
If the account is the right one and drives are still missing, email hello@odo.tax from the address on the account.
