What if the rate changed mid-year?
Each drive at its own rate
A drive is priced at the rate in force on the day it was driven. 2026 has two business rates: 72.5¢ a mile up to 30 June, and 76¢ from 1 July. The medical and moving rate changed the same day, from 20.5¢ to 23.5¢; the charity rate stayed at 14¢. A report over the whole year lists both rates and works each half at its own.
Where to see the rates
- In OdoTax, open Settings
- Tap IRS standard rate
The Rates screen shows each part of the year with its business, medical, charity and moving rate — the same table the totals are worked from.

If you use a rate of your own
A business rate you set yourself — Your business rate at the foot of Settings → IRS standard rate in the app, or Settings → Tax → Business rate in the web account — replaces the IRS rate on every drive, so there is no split. Tap Use the IRS rate, or leave it blank, to go back to the IRS rate.
If you use a rate of your own
Settings → Tax → Business rate sets a business rate of your own. It replaces the IRS rate on every drive, so there is no split; leave it blank to go back to the IRS rate.
