Will it drain my battery?
The short answer
Little. Between drives OdoTax does not track where you are: the phone watches for the next drive with the motion sensors it already runs and a boundary around where it last stopped. GPS runs at full accuracy only while a drive is being recorded.
What you will see
While a drive is being recorded, the blue location indicator shows in the status bar, and the drive appears on the Lock Screen as a Live Activity. Both go away when the drive ends.
What you will see
Android requires a notification while an app uses location in the background, so OdoTax keeps one: Ready to detect a drive between drives, and the miles so far while one is recorded.
Plugged in, and not
On a charger — usually a car mount — OdoTax notices a drive starting a little sooner; on battery it wakes less often. The recording itself is the same either way.
