Drives and sorting

What does Auto-classify do?

Shown on the website

What it does

When OdoTax has something to go by, a drive comes with a suggestion: Looks like personal, say, on the card where you sort drives. Auto-classify is a switch that files new drives for you. While it is on, a new drive that fits one of the rules below is filed as it arrives, without asking. A drive that fits none of them still waits under To classify, with its suggestion if it has one.

The switch is off until you turn it on.

In the browser

  1. Sign in at my.odo.tax and open Settings → Classification
  2. Turn on Auto-classify

It is one switch for your account: turned on here, it is on in the app too.

Turn on Auto-classify

What it goes by

Auto-classify files a drive by the first of these that fits:

  1. A route you have sorted before. At least three drives on the route classified by you, and at least four in five of them the same way. Drives Auto-classify filed itself do not count
  2. Home to work, or back. A drive between a place saved as Home and one saved as Work is filed as Commute
  3. Your work hours. A drive that starts inside them is filed as Business, one outside them as Personal — each only while its switch on the Work hours screen is on: Can OdoTax sort drives by my schedule?

Softer hints, like one end of the drive at a saved Work or Home place, still show as a suggestion on the card but are not applied for you.

What it leaves alone

Only new drives are filed: a drive your phone records, or one you add by hand, as it reaches your log. Turning the switch on does not sort the drives already waiting under To classify. A category you chose is never changed, and a drive held as a likely flight or train waits for you: Why does a drive say Held?.

A frequent drive files its route whether Auto-classify is on or off.
