Drives and sorting

How does OdoTax know which drives are for work?

Shown on the website

You decide

Each drive waits in your list until you say what it was: Business or Personal, or Commute, Medical, Charity or Moving. Only business, medical, charity and moving drives count towards a deduction. Moving is only for a move on orders: active-duty military moving under PCS orders and, from 2026, members of the intelligence community who relocate for a change of assignment.

Sorting a batch

In Trips, the To classify tab lists what is waiting. Classify one row at a time, or tick several and set them together from the bar that appears.

Suggestions

OdoTax suggests where it can: a drive to a place you named Work looks like business, home to work looks like commute, a route you have classified the same way three times looks like the same again, and work hours suggest by the clock. A suggestion is shown on the drive; it is filed only when you accept it.

Letting OdoTax file them

Two things file drives without asking. Auto-classify applies the suggestions as drives arrive — it is off until you turn it on, in Settings → Classification. And a frequent drive files every drive on its route. Either way the drive says so, and any drive can be changed afterwards.
