What does a red row in Tracking configuration mean?
The screen
Settings → Tracking configuration lists everything drive detection depends on. A green tick is fine; a red triangle is something that stops or slows detection, with what is wrong under it. Tap the row and OdoTax opens the place to fix it.

Drive detection — Not running
Why: Android stopped OdoTax’s background service — usually after an update, a force-stop, or a battery saver of the phone maker’s. Fix: tap Start it. If it keeps stopping, check Battery optimization and Autostart below.
Location access — Denied
Why: OdoTax was never allowed location, or it was taken away. Without it no drive can be recorded at all. Fix: tap Enable, or in the iPhone’s Settings → Apps → OdoTax → Location, pick Always.
Location access — Denied
Why: OdoTax was never allowed location, or it was taken away. Without it no drive can be recorded at all. Fix: tap Enable and allow location.
Location set to Always — Only while the app is open
Why: location is allowed only while OdoTax is on screen, and on a drive it never is — so drives are missed. Fix: in the iPhone’s Settings → Apps → OdoTax → Location, choose Always. More: Do I have to set location to Always?
All-the-time location — Only while the app is open
Why: location is allowed only while OdoTax is on screen, and on a drive it never is — so drives are missed. Fix: tap the row and choose Allow all the time. More: Do I have to set location to Always?
Precise location — Approximate only
Why: Precise Location is off, so every position is too coarse to use and no drive can be recorded. Fix: tap Fix it, or in the iPhone’s Settings → Apps → OdoTax → Location, turn Precise Location on.
Precise location — Approximate only
Why: the phone gives OdoTax only a rough position, which is not accurate enough for a mileage log. Fix: tap Fix it and switch Use precise location on.
Location services — Off device-wide
Why: location is switched off for the whole phone, not just for OdoTax. Fix: tap Open settings and turn location on.
Background App Refresh — Off
Why: iOS is not allowed to wake OdoTax in the background, so a drive can be missed, or saved late. Fix: tap Open settings and turn Background App Refresh on for OdoTax. Low Power Mode turns it off for every app while it is on.
Physical activity — Denied
Why: OdoTax cannot use Motion & Fitness, so it notices drives later — sometimes a mile or two in. Fix: tap Enable, or turn on Motion & Fitness in Settings → Apps → OdoTax.
Physical activity — Denied
Why: OdoTax cannot use the motion sensors, so it notices drives later — sometimes a mile or two in. Fix: tap Enable and allow it.
Activity signal (Google Play services) — Denied
Why: Google Play services, which does the motion sensing for OdoTax, has had its own Physical activity permission taken away. Fix: tap Open its settings and allow Physical activity for Google Play services.
Notifications — Off
Detection still works. You just are not told when a drive is ready to classify. Fix: tap Enable.
Battery optimization — Restricted
Why: Android is allowed to pause OdoTax in the background to save power, and a paused OdoTax cannot notice a drive starting. Fix: tap Fix it and choose Unrestricted. More in Which battery settings keep tracking running?
Autostart
Only on Xiaomi, Huawei, Oppo, Vivo and similar phones, which keep their own list of apps allowed to start by themselves; Android cannot tell OdoTax whether it is on the list, so the row stays grey. Fix: tap Open the list and turn OdoTax on.
Low Power Mode — On
Why: Low Power Mode can slow background work. Fix: if drives go missing while it is on, turn it off when you drive — Settings → Battery.
Battery saver — On
Why: this phone’s battery saver switches location off, or slows it down, while the screen is off — so drives can be missed or cut short. Battery savers differ from phone to phone: where it leaves a recording drive alone, the row stays green and reads On — location not limited. Fix: turn it off when you drive, or tap Open settings.
On the web
Tracking configuration is about the phone, so it lives in the app: open the iPhone or Android tab above.
